POST-OPERATIVE CARE
-
The aftercare involved is all the medical follow-up from the surgery upcoming months in which you will have to send photos of your hair to Dr. Ferreira in order for him to evaluate the case evolution. Don't worry, we will remind you when the time comes. We also provide the first head wash which is performed 4 days after surgery. It is a simple process and most of the patients do it by themselves at home, but our patients are more than welcome to have it at the clinic.

Recovery is usually a quick and issue-free period. You will be given post-operative instructions to follow and some comfort medication. There is no mandatory rest period, but the first 10-15 days are some of the most crucial ones and we do recommend taking it easy in this period.
-
After a week you can go for a light jog or light training session. More vigorous physical activity comes at 10-15 days post-op. Contact sports should be played only after about 28 days to avoid any kind trauma or excessive rubbing that could occur.
-
You can wear a cap from the 3rd-5th day post-op onwards.

The donor area is a finite supply of non-androgen sensitive hair (most of the time, but not always) that we must preserve at all costs. Hair transplant surgery means, roughly speaking, to change the position of existing hair into a new position. This means your transplanted hair will not grow back after the procedure. It will however grow wherever we plant it. That is the objective.
The donor area usually has more hair than it needs for coverage and we take advantage of this. By, in a very calculated manner, taking hair from this area, we can redistribute the hair supply of your head and cover the areas that are in need of hair.
Skilled management of your donor supply is crucial to a successful transplant, not only in the near future, but also in the long run.

Usually, about a month is the time we need for immediate post-op care. For some things, like minoxidil, I prefer to resume a bit earlier. But during the first 15-30 days you'll be using the products we provide you for your hair care.

Survival rate is usually over 95%, but we always aim for 100% of course.
Coverage depends on the case. The goal is always to achieve complete coverage, but not all patients gather the necessary conditions for it.
-
The average survival rate is at about 95%. This varies of course, but we do offer a guarantee if anything less than 90% of the grafts survive.
