The recommended minimum hair length for surgery is at least 50 millimeters. Do not cut your hair right before coming for surgery. Dr. Ferreira prefers that you arrive with longer hair.

Yes, once we sort out dates for you, you will be required to do bloodwork and if over the age of 45, an electrocardiogram (ECG).

If you are not able to do so, you can do it at our parter lab, the morning before the day of the procedure.

It will depend on how many grafts will be transplanted. For cases over 2200-2500 grafts, usually, the surgery will be performed over 2 consecutive days.

Absolutely. This is very common. We can help you with your travel and accommodations here in Portugal, so that you can also enjoy beautiful Portugal. If you wish for a stop-and-go procedure, we do recommend that you arrive on the day before and that you reserve a rest period after the surgery of at least one day, but some patients opt to travel right after surgery and do so with no issues.

We usually ask patients to be in Porto at least the night before the surgery. If you would like to do your bloodwork and COVID-19 test here, we advise you to be in Porto at least one day before the surgery to be able to have the bloodwork done at our lab. We also suggest a one day rest post-op. It is not mandatory to do the first head wash at the clinic, however if you wish to do so, we can do that on the fourth day after surgery. Subject to availability.

We ask our patients to be at the clinic at 7:30 in the morning. If this changes, you will advise accordingly.

The duration of the procedure is very variable according to the surgery goals, the hair type, difficulty, patient compliance, etc. A standard 1500 to 2000 follicular unit transplant usually takes about 8 hours. This includes rest periods and breaks for meals. Cases above 2200-2500 are divided into two consecutive days.
